Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or similar) on projects ranging from rebar mats to corroded pipes. You will capture data on site, process it, and deliver meshes and scan-to-CAD outputs that clients can act on.

The role requires hands-on scanner experience, on-site work ability, and willingness to travel to regional hubs for project coverage. Training on capture procedures and safety is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• On-site data processing and verification of scans.
• Familiarity with CAD reading and interpretation of structural drawings.
• Ability to travel to regional hubs and work on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar, embeds, and various structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlaps.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio including registration, fusion, and mesh cleanup; export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and bolt coordinate reports.
• Create scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site Superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
