Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained-operator 3D scanning technician to run handheld scanners on projects before pours and in plant environments. You will capture data on site, process it in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD files and reports for client use.

Ideal candidates have hands-on scanner experience, CAD reading ability, and willingness to travel to regional hubs. The role is hourly with overtime for pour windows, based in the Houston metro with regional travel.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects; examples required.
Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable software; mesh cleanup, registration, export.
Familiarity with CAD drawings and structural/fabrication drawings.
Comfortable on active construction sites; able to carry equipment and work outdoors.
Valid driver's license with acceptable record; able to travel and fly with equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute handheld scans of rebar, embeds, and structures before pours.
Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports.
Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
Document capture procedure and chain of custody on forensic matters.
Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized.
Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts; travel as assigned.
Travel to regional hubs as needed.
