Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners, process data on-site, and deliver scan-to-CAD files and reports for various projects across the Gulf Coast region.

You will work with Artec Studio and CAD tools to produce meshes, deviation maps, and integrity reports while traveling to regional hubs and client sites. Prior hands-on scanning experience and driver’s license are required; certifications are sponsored.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software including mesh cleanup and export.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and reading structural/fabrication drawings; valid driver’s license required.
• Willingness to travel and work on active construction sites and industrial plants.
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus; ICC/ACI/NICET certifications are a plus and sponsored by the company.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and components before concrete placement and during repairs.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57 and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks; hand-clean meshes for modeling team.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, safety with superintendents and plant contacts; travel as assigned.
