Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained handheld 3D scanning technician to capture data on live construction sites and plants. You will operate Artec Leo/other scanners, process data in Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD outputs and reports.

You will verify data on-site, manage drift and reference features, and coordinate access and safety with site teams. The role requires travel, CAD familiarity, and a driver’s license; certifications are supported by the company.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects with examples
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or similar scan-processing software
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural/fabrication drawings
• Comfortable on active construction sites and industrial plants; able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors
• Valid driver's license with acceptable record
• Able to travel and fly with equipment as assigned
• Experience with scan-to-CAD or metrology reporting is a plus
• Certifications such as ACI/ICC/NICET are a plus and sponsorable by the company

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and for damaged structures
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt reports
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks or clean meshes for modeling team
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain-of-custody on forensic matters
• Coordinate access, permits, safety, and travel with superintendents and plant contacts
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned
