Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a trained handheld 3D scanning technician to capture onsite data, process it in Artec Studio, and deliver meshes and reports in client-ready formats.

You will scan a variety of structures, verify data on site, and work with CAD teams to produce scan-to-CAD outputs while traveling to regional hubs as assigned. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and efficient data delivery.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners on real projects.
• Familiarity with Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Reading structural or fabrication drawings in CAD environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and measurement backbones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and coordinate surveys against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts; travel as needed.
