Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on diverse site projects, from rebar mats to corroded pipes. You will process data in Artec Studio and deliver scan-to-CAD files for client use, ensuring accuracy on active jobsites.

You should be comfortable on construction sites, able to read CAD drawings, and travel regionally. We sponsor ACI/ICC certifications to support career growth.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld scanner on real projects.
• Familiarity with Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and interpret structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable record and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and components on site.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlap zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving the jobsite.
• Process scans: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture export to STL/OBJ/IGES.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates vs drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering pursuits.
• Document capture procedures and chain of custody for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned and report progress.
