Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a hands-on 3D scanning technician to capture data on active job sites using handheld scanners and to deliver scan-to-CAD files for client use. You will process data on-site and in Artec Studio, checking alignment and quality before producing finalized meshes and reports.

The role requires on-site work, the ability to travel to regional hubs, and prior experience with scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) plus CAD literacy.

Qualifications

• Experience operating handheld 3D scanners on real projects, with demonstrable samples.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or similar scan-processing software for mesh cleanup and registration.
• Ability to read structural/fabrication drawings in CAD formats.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld scans of sites and components before pours or after, ensuring coverage.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document procedures and chain of custody for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
