Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners (Artec Leo, Eva, or Space Spider) and process data with Artec Studio. You will deliver scan data, meshes, and coordinate reports for concrete, corrosion, and machine part projects across the Gulf Coast region.

You will travel to regional hubs, work on active sites, and collaborate with CAD teams to generate scan-to-CAD outputs while maintaining safety and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and export.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment and work outdoors.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record; able to travel with equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and for damaged structures.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
