Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. The role involves fiber testing with OTDR, fusion splicing, fault identification, and documentation across diverse field environments.

You will work on fiber optic cabling, perform certifications, and troubleshoot impairments, with emphasis on professionalism and safety in various settings. On-site, 1099 contractor role with travel within territory.

Qualifications

• Fiber testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• OTDRs, power meters, light sources, and fiber certification equipment experience.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, and one certification or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to:
• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cabling.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
