Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. This role involves certification, splicing, OTDR testing, and fault isolation across diverse facilities and environments.

As a 1099 contractor, you will be paid hourly on site, with travel pay and opportunities to work on fiber infrastructure, telecommunications, and data center projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, and one of the following: FOA/CFOT/BICSI/Network+ or 5+ years verifiable Fiber, I.T., or Telecom field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to: Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation
• Patch‑cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement
• Installation, termination, and testing of single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber optic cabling
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer‑premise and network‑side impairments
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables
• Work independently across various environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecommunications, and data center facilities
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism with clients and project stakeholders
• Be available to accept service requests within your coverage territory depending on your availability, NOT FULL TIME
