Job summary

Metronet is seeking a Fiber Technician in Ames, IA to install, troubleshoot, and service fiber internet and phone connections for residential and business customers. The role covers installations from the fiber terminal to customer equipment, with on-site education for customers and performance-driven expectations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• We look for experience with a telecom / fiber company preferred but not required.
• Physical ability to work from a kneeling or standing position for long periods.
• Physical ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, and in adverse weather conditions.
• Able to lift and carry loads of up to 75lbs including ladder.
• Valid driver’s license/satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot all Metronet services from the terminal to Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).
• Provide in-depth customer education on all Metronet products and services.
• Earn commissions by explaining Metronet services and products to customers.
• Be professional with customers and fellow associates.
• Work towards meeting key performance metrics.
• Other job-related duties as requested.
