Job summary

Metronet in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Fiber Technician to install and troubleshoot fiber services from the terminal to the customer premises. You will educate customers on Metronet products and services and may earn commissions by explaining offerings.

The role requires the ability to work in attics, crawl spaces and varying weather conditions, with lifting up to 75 lbs and ladder work. A valid driver's license is required and travel for training may be needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• We look for experience with a telecom / fiber company preferred but not required.
• Physical ability to work from a kneeling or standing position for long periods.
• Physical ability to climb ladders up to 25 feet with safety equipment.
• Able to lift and carry loads of up to 75lbs including ladder.
• Ability to work with basic hand tools and other specialized equipment with training.
• Valid driver's license/satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot Metronet services from the terminal to Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).
• Provide in-depth customer education on all Metronet products and services.
• Earn commissions by explaining Metronet services and products to all customers.
• Be professional with customers and fellow associates.
• Work towards meeting key performance metrics.
• Other job-related duties as requested.
