Job summary

Forged Fiber in Minnesota is seeking a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable across construction projects, operations, and emergency restoration. The role requires reading prints and diagrams, using OTDRs, power meters, and fiber identifiers, and coordinating with construction crews.

This on-site position demands safety awareness, physical endurance, and flexibility for overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test fiber optic cable for construction projects, including maintenance and emergency restoration.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults using OTDR, meters, and fault finders; document test results.
• Prepare and repair splice cases/enclosures (aerial, buried, handholes, manholes).
• Perform dark fiber testing, re-splicing, and routine repairs to restore service.
• Coordinate with crews and engineers to resolve outages and meet schedules; provide field reports.
• Read and interpret drawings and permits; create As-Builts where required.
