Job summary

Forged Fiber 37 is hiring a Fiber Tech II to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across our Ramsey, MN network. You’ll support construction, maintenance, and emergency restoration while coordinating with crews and partners.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of fiber splicing/OSP experience, proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, and related tools, and the ability to read prints, maps, and diagrams. Local travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• 2+ years fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience or equivalent training.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects and restoration.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults using OTDR, power meter, and fault finder; document results.
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures (aerial, buried, handholes, manholes).
• Perform dark fiber tests, reel testing, and routine repairs to restore service and maintain route integrity.
• Read construction prints, splice diagrams, and maps; interpret permits and orders; create As-Builts as needed.
• Coordinate with crews, contractors, and partners to resolve outages and meet schedules.
