Job summary

Forged Fiber is seeking a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable across our networks. You will work on construction projects, maintenance, and emergency restoration with dedicated teams.

The role requires 2+ years of fiber splicing experience, ability to climb, lift up to 75 lbs, and willingness to overtime. Location is Omaha, NE; safety and quality are paramount in this fast-paced field.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience or equivalent training.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Ability to read construction prints, splice diagrams, maps and documents; strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects, maintenance and restoration.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, power meter, fiber identifiers; save test files and docs.
• Prepare and repair splice cases/enclosures (aerial, buried, handholes, manholes).
• Perform dark fiber, reel and continuity testing; repair to restore service and route integrity.
• Coordinate with crews, contractors and engineers to resolve outages and meet schedules.
