Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician I to install, test, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and fiber infrastructure across the Bloomington, IL area. You will work independently, troubleshoot service issues, and deliver outstanding customer experiences while ensuring network reliability.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED (or 1+ years relevant experience), the ability to lift 50 lbs, a valid driver’s license, and on‑call availability.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years relevant job experience including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Experience in at least one major technician discipline: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, or Outside Plant.
• Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
• PC skills and familiarity with corporate databases.
• On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis; valid driver’s license; able to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and fiber infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot service-impacting issues and restore customer services.
• Support customer installations, service turn-ups, maintenance, and repair work.
• Maintain ILA sites and network infrastructure; complete work orders and documentation.
• Operate vehicles and field equipment safely; travel across assigned territories.
