Job summary

Lumen Technologies is hiring a Field Technician I to support and maintain our fiber network and customer infrastructure in the Bloomington, IL area. You will install, test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment while delivering strong customer service and operational reliability.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED and some experience in fiber or telecom fields, with the ability to learn corporate systems and work on-call, in varying weather, and across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with up to 2 years of related experience
• Experience in at least one major technician discipline: transmission, switching, TCP/IP, or fiber
• Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable and As-Builts
• Must be able to learn corporate databases and MS Windows/Office

Responsibilities

• Install, test, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and fiber infrastructure
• Troubleshoot service‑impacting issues and take corrective actions to restore services
• Support customer installations, service turn‑ups, maintenance and repair work
• Maintain and support ILA sites and network infrastructure in assigned territories
• Respond to incidents and urgent customer needs promptly
• Complete work orders, documentation, and system updates accurately
• Operate vehicles and field equipment safely and participate in on‑call rotations
