Job summary

HDR is seeking an experienced Federal Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead complex water infrastructure projects for federal agencies. You will manage multidisciplinary teams from planning through closeout, build client relationships, and help grow HDR's federal water practice.

The role emphasizes governance, QA/QC, and collaboration with HDR leadership to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of critical public works for national security and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and related professional experience
• 7 years related experience
• A minimum of 2 years project management experience
• Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and oversee all phases of complex, multidisciplinary projects from planning and design through construction support and project closeout.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining alignment with client objectives, budget expectations, and delivery schedules.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with federal and military clients, serving as a trusted advisor and key point of contact.
• Support business development activities, including marketing efforts, proposal preparation, contract negotiations, and project pursuits.
• Facilitate project planning, design development, and contract document review sessions with clients, technical staff, and project stakeholders.
• Coordinate resources and staffing across multiple disciplines to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
• Collaborate with HDR leadership to monitor project performance and drive successful outcomes.
• Implement and oversee QA/QC procedures to ensure technical excellence and compliance.
• Support staff development initiatives and implement training programs aligned with HDR's objectives.
• Lead and mentor project teams, including coaching and developing less-experienced PMs.
• Monitor project financial performance and accountability for scope, schedule, budget, risk, profitability.
• Maintain professional engineering licensure and stay informed of industry trends.
• Perform other duties as required.
