Job summary

SMX is seeking a Federal Financial Business Analyst to join the client service delivery team. This 100% remote role supports the CFO Control Tower BAS solution for federal customers, with minimal travel (<20%) and requires a Public Trust clearance.

You will analyze financial data, improve processes, and provide data-driven insights across SDLC phases while collaborating with budget SMEs and implementation teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, IS, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, or related areas.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex financial and operational data to support strategic decisions.
• Document business processes, workflows and requirements.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify improvements.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to improve efficiency.
• Review data structures and policies for impact on processes.
• Utilize BI tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve reporting and finance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align requirements.
• Create quality SDLC documentation (RTM, FDD, design docs, user guides).
• Develop test plans and business use cases, manage testing.
