Job summary

SMX is seeking a Federal Financial Business Analyst to join our client service delivery team. This 100% remote role requires 20% travel and a Public Trust clearance, working with federal budgeting and planning processes to enhance our BAS/ SAP Analytics Cloud-based solution.

You will translate complex data into insights, document requirements, and drive process improvements across finance operations and reporting for federal customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics and reporting, management or technology consulting, or operations analysis/strategic planning.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing consulting environment.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex financial and operational data and partner with government stakeholders.
• Identify process improvements and support data-driven decision making.
• Collaborate with project teams to align business, data, and technology requirements.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC phases and develop test plans and use cases.
• Translate data into compelling insights and actionable recommendations.
