Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Production Manager Trainee to learn and certify across farm departments, under supervision of department leaders, as part of the ongoing development program.

The role covers pig production processes, environmental compliance, and leadership certification, with on-site duties, on-call responsibilities, and opportunities to progress to a management assignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related Agricultural field.
• Must be able to work an average 48-hour week.
• Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.
• Must be willing to relocate to complete training and assume first managerial assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learns, demonstrates capability/knowledge and becomes certified in all farm department areas.
• Gains understanding of pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, husbandry.
• Performs and masters all hourly jobs under supervision.
• Becomes certified in each job after showing competence.
• Develops reports on experiences and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Complies with environmental laws and EMS policies.
• Completes Leadership Certification.
• Adheres to IPS, biosecurity, and animal welfare policies.
• Reports environmental, animal care and biosecurity issues to supervisor.
• Acts as acting HOD as needed by management.
• On-call for emergencies.
• Progresses in the Manager Training development program.
• Reports issues to Human Resources.
