Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Production Manager Trainee to learn and certify across farm departments, including Breeding/Farrowing and Nursery/Finishing.

You'll master pig production processes, animal welfare, and company systems under supervision, progressing toward leadership roles while adhering to environmental and EMS policies. You will be on call for emergencies, work a demanding schedule, and relocate for initial training as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related Agricultural field, or enrolled with anticipated graduation.
• Must be able to work an average 48-hour week, with variable schedules.
• Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
• Must shower in and out of farm facilities daily.
• Ability to lead others and relocate to complete training.

Responsibilities

• Learns, demonstrates capability and becomes certified in all farm department areas.
• Gains understanding of pig production processes, animal flow, health, genetics, and husbandry.
• Performs and masters hourly jobs under supervision.
• Becomes certified in each job after demonstrating competence.
• Develops reports on experiences and suggests improvements.
• Complies with environmental laws and EMS policies.
• Incumbent may act as HOD as needed and participate in emergency response.
