Job summary

Transwestern is seeking a Building Engineer for Chesapeake, VA, responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, and monitoring building operations. The role covers HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and grounds, with the ability to direct technicians and outside contractors as needed.

The Building Engineer will perform routine inspections, maintain energy efficiency, and ensure compliant operation of building infrastructure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 2+ years related experience or trade school training.
• 3+ years building maintenance experience desired.
• Thorough knowledge of building systems operations, maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on buildings, systems, equipment, and grounds.
• Inspect fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure proper operation.
• Lead or direct technicians and contractors on assigned projects as needed.
• Complete maintenance and repair records and respond to emergencies quickly.
• Maintain energy management practices to keep operating costs down.
• Maintain building lighting systems and perform related replacements.
