Job summary

Range Commercial Partners, Inc. in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Building Engineer to oversee and perform maintenance across assigned properties. This role ensures building systems operate within design specs and supports proactive preventive maintenance.

You will coordinate with the Property Manager, handle work orders, inspect and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, and safety systems, and uphold OSHA guidelines while delivering reliable service to clients.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent
• Advanced knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, roofing, drywall, carpentry, and HVAC troubleshooting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to use computer and phone for work order system, email, and training

Responsibilities

• Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing to ensure operation meets design specs and client environmental conditions
• Perform day-to-day repairs, emergency maintenance, and preventive maintenance on all properties
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems
• Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner
• Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors
• Maintain lighting systems and replace bulbs and lamps
• Order materials to complete repairs within limits set by the Property Manager
• Complete required paperwork to close out work orders
• Maintain and renew required trade certifications and licenses
• Meet with Property Manager to ensure maintenance goals are met
• Refer work exceeding routine maintenance to Chief Engineer
• Ensure 24/7 vehicle readiness as part of maintenance role
• Report unusual events to Property Manager and Maintenance Supervisor
• Follow OSHA guidelines and requirements
• Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting 50 lbs+
