Job summary

Elica Health Centers in California is expanding Vision Services and seeks an Optician to sell eyeglasses and contacts per prescriptions. You will advise on lens materials and designs, assist with frame selection, and ensure proper fit.

The successful candidate has a high school diploma, active BLS, at least 1 year of retail optician experience, and strong communication; bilingual is preferred. The role emphasizes patient education and HIPAA confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Active BLS Certification.
• Minimum 1 year of retail optician experience.
• Bilingual strongly preferred (Russian, Spanish, Farsi/Dari).
• Insurance verification experience preferred.
• Understand and maintain HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient education regarding lens materials, products and designs.
• Perform prescription analysis such as interpreting and transposing.
• Provide recommendations to patients regarding proper eyeglass frame selection.
• Design complete eyewear product by incorporating frame design elements, lens materials and optics with patient’s prescription and lifestyle requirements.
• Perform eyeglass frame adjustments and repairs with proper alignment and fit.
• Measure lens power, PD, multifocal segment height, base curve, vertex distance and prism power.
• Order custom lens products from wholesale optical laboratories, monitor process and bill insurance when needed.
• Verify lens prescriptions of ordered lenses and check for accuracy.
• Maintain inventory of frames, lenses and office supplies; organize displays.
• Maintain instruments and hand tools used in the office.
• Attend training as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
