Job summary

VSP Vision in San Mateo, CA is seeking an energetic associate to help customers find eyeglasses and contacts that best match their needs while delivering the highest levels of quality and care.

You will assist customers with frame selections, take measurements, dispense eyewear, coordinate with insurance billing, and keep displays tidy; you will document all patient interactions in the practice software and support special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of related optical/retail experience.
• State licensure or certification by a nationally recognized optician association if required by state.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Effective written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to ask appropriate questions to identify customer needs.
• Proven problem-solving, negotiating, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine the reason for the patient’s visit and deliver recommendations to patients for eyewear needs following the prescription.
• Attract and retain customers by delivering exceptional customer service and promoting patient satisfaction.
• Assist customers in frame selection and coordinate with optical measurements and prescriptions.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames to suit customer needs and occupations.
• Take measurements, assist with adjustments, and dispense eyewear.
• Ensure accurate pricing and delivery quotes to patients.
• Provide enthusiastic, concise communication to meet patient expectations and support the team.
• Clean and merchandise displays daily.
• Assist with insurance billing and processing orders.
• Document all patient communication in the practice software system.
• Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
