Job summary

VSP Vision in California is hiring an Optical Associate/Optician to deliver exceptional customer service, fill eyeglass prescriptions, and promote patient satisfaction.

You will measure, fit lenses and frames, advise on lenses and coatings, assist with frame selection, and work with the host and doctors to maximize sales and timely delivery. Requires 1–2 years' experience and state licensure as applicable.

Qualifications

• State licensure or certification as an optician if required by state.
• Ability to sell through effective sales skills and meet sales targets.
• Retail or customer service experience.
• Ability to communicate enthusiastically and concisely to meet expectations.
• Attention to store merchandising and detail.
• 1–2 years of related field experience.
• For remote or hybrid roles, demonstrate engagement in virtual environments.

Responsibilities

• Fill eyeglass prescriptions and fit and adapt lenses and frames.
• Evaluate prescriptions with customer visual needs.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames to suit customer needs.
• Assist customers in frame selection and coordinate with measurements.
• Conduct measurements of bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, PD, and optical centers.
• Ensure pricing accuracy and delivery quotes.
• Develop relationships with associates, hosts, and doctors.
• Maximize vision care plan relationships and sales opportunities.
• Support marketing program implementation.
• Maintain positive host relationships and customer satisfaction surveys.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Optical Manager.
