Job summary

AEG in Frisco, TX is seeking an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, ensuring proper fit and precise dispensing while maintaining patient satisfaction.

Role requires interpreting prescriptions, discussing frame options, and applying lens treatments. Strong communication and customer service are essential, along with basic insurance knowledge and EHR/ALE documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; ABO/NCLE preferred.
• Minimum one year experience as an optician strongly preferred.
• Proficient PC skills to include MS Office and Windows.
• Strong customer service, communication, and sales skills.
• Knowledge of medical/vision insurance basics and HIPAA awareness.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary patient experience and explains customized recommendations.
• Handoff from technicians/doctors and assess visual needs to recommend frames/lenses.
• Stay current on products, rebates, lens types, and frame options.
• Handle patient calls, update order status, and escalate issues as needed.
• Assist in selecting frames, lenses, and treatments including coatings.
• Educate on eyewear care, warranties, and insurance coverage details.
• Enter prescription data into the EHR/ALE system and maintain documentation.
• Follow up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready.
• Inspect, fit, adjust, and polish eyewear to ensure comfort and accuracy.
• Communicate with technicians and managers about order status and issues.
