Job summary

AEG in Kerrville, Texas is hiring an Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that fit prescriptions and lifestyles, ensuring frame fit, precise measurements, and proper lens dispensing.

As part of a patient-centered team, you will educate on lens treatments, warranties, and insurance coverage, while maintaining accurate EHR entries and delivering superior service to every patient.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MS Office, Windows, and word processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, sales experience preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient by explaining our recommendations for products and services.
• Receive patient handoff from technicians or doctors and establish rapport by asking lifestyle questions to identify visual needs and recommend frames and lenses.
• Keeps current on products, procedures, rebates, and lens/frame options.
• Take and return patient calls, update patients on order status and resolve issues; escalate to management when needed.
• Educate patients on eyeglass care, warranty, and replacement options.
• Interpret prescriptions and ensure accurate data entry into the EHR system.
• Follow-up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready.
• Dispense glasses, ensure proper fit, and adjust as needed.
• Regularly communicates with technicians and managers to obtain order status.
