Job summary

Virginia Vision in Arlington, VA seeks an Eyewear Consultant I to assist patients in selecting eyewear, educate on lens options, and support sales goals. You will measure and fit eyeglasses, perform basic adjustments, and help manage inventory while delivering excellent service.

This role emphasizes strong presentation and adaptiveness, with on-the-job training for optical experience. FT position reporting to the Practice Manager with a focus on patient care and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills and personal presentation are critical to this role.
• 1+ years of experience in a related position.
• Optical experience is preferred but not necessary—we will train the right person.

Responsibilities

• Review Physician’s prescriptions and orders based on medical charts.
• Educate patients on lens options and help them choose based on medical needs and lifestyle.
• Provide honest but compassionate feedback about frame aesthetics.
• Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff.
• Manage frame and contact lens inventory to ensure product variety.
• Measure and fit eyeglasses properly.
• Perform basic adjustments and repairs of eyewear.
• Place optical orders with an understanding of insurance benefits.

General Job Description & Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that all patients are receiving the best quality of care at all times. Primary responsibilities include:

• Review Physician’s prescriptions and orders based on medical charts


• Educate patients on their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs as well as lifestyle preferences with a basic understanding of lens fundamentals.


• Provide honest but compassionate feedback about aesthetic choices in frames


• Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff while attending to patients’ specific needs and desires


• Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and product variety


• Measure and fit eyeglasses properly.


• Perform basic adjustments and repairs of eyewear.


• Place optical orders with a general understanding of insurance benefits

Experience & Skills

Excellent customer service skills and personal presentation are critical to this role. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of experience and:
