Job summary

Midwest-Eye-Consultants is seeking a customer-focused optical assistant in a professional medical office setting in Indiana. You will guide patients in choosing frames and lenses, explain doctor recommendations, educate on eyewear care, and ensure accurate order entry and insurance verification.

You will monitor orders, communicate with patients about delivery, and conduct fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs while maintaining organized displays and supporting efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities

  • Guide patients in selecting frames and lenses that align with their prescription, lifestyle, and preferences.
  • Clearly explain doctor recommendations and lens options, including features and benefits.
  • Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage.
  • Accurately enter and manage spectacle orders.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and calculate patient co-pays.
  • Monitor order status to ensure timely delivery.
  • Notify patients when orders are ready and coordinate dispensing.
  • Conduct follow-up outreach to ensure patient satisfaction and successful adaptation.
  • Perform fittings, adjustments, and minor repairs.
  • Address and resolve patient concerns related to eyewear.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of frames, lenses, and optical supplies.
  • Create and maintain organized, visually appealing displays.
  • Support efficient patient flow and communicate delays when necessary.
  • Collaborate with providers and team members to ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the practice.
