Job summary

Vision Health is seeking an Optometric Technician I to assist the optometrist in delivering high-quality patient care. You will pre-screen patients, collect medical history, and help with diagnostic tests while maintaining exceptional patient experience.

You will communicate with doctors and staff, educate patients on insurance benefits, train on contact lens care, and manage scheduling and documentation. This is a full-time, on-site role in a clinic setting with a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a related role
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong multi-tasking and time management abilities
• Strong organizational and attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
• Flexible to accommodate schedule changes on short notice
• Previous Optometric Technician experience preferred
• Previous electronic medical records experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Pre-screen patients before they see the optometrist and perform diagnostic tests
• Gather patient medical history
• Communicate with doctors, staff, and patients
• Answer phone calls, greet patients, and schedule appointments
• Educate patients on insurance coverage and vision benefits
• Train patients on proper contact lens use and care
• Obtain insurance authorizations and verify benefits
• Post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold
• Assist team to reach goals
• Document optometry exams and procedures as performed
• List diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions and prescriptions
• Coordinate patient scheduling and manage patient flow in the office
