Job summary

CrowdStrike is seeking a skilled security researcher to analyze in-the-wild exploits, reverse engineer malware, and develop actionable threat intelligence for proactive defense. The role emphasizes defensive analysis on the Technical Analysis Cell, with collaboration across CrowdStrike Intelligence and other teams.

Remote with occasional travel, MA/MS in CS or related field, and strong writing skills are required; experience with Python, AI-assisted tooling, and signature development is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in exploitation techniques for userspace and kernel vulnerabilities.
• Knowledge of common network service exploitation techniques.
• Solid understanding of Windows and other OS platforms.
• Familiarity with web-based exploitation vectors.
• Strong collaborative mindset and team player.
• Proficiency with reverse engineering tools and unpacking malware.
• Knowledge of programming/scripting languages, especially Python.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate vulnerability research and independently validate findings.
• Experience applying AI to improve decision-making and workflows.
• Excellent writing skills are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Develop tracking systems for cross-team adversary tracking based on observed exploitation behavior.
• Improve detection capabilities for exploits and malicious payloads.
• Identify new data sources to increase threat visibility.
• Maintain deep understanding of exploit internals through reverse engineering.
• Develop tools to automate exploit analysis tasks and extend analysis frameworks.
• Create classification framework for intrusion activity based on vulnerabilities used.
• Contribute to active mitigation efforts with technical expertise.
• Develop host-based and network-based signatures for large-scale hunting, detection, and prevention.
