Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant License/Certification required by state.
• Radiology (x-ray) certification required by state.
• CPR or BLS certification.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficient at chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry.
• Demonstrate and provide instruction on proper sterilization and infection control techniques.
• Maintain CE requirements as specified by state.
• State certification in expanded functions as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing the DA office team to maintain productive patient flow.
• Assist doctors during a variety of treatment procedures.
• Breakdown operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists.
• Complete sterilization processes and ensure staff are trained and compliant.
• Follow maintenance schedules for waterlines, autoclave, and compressor daily/weekly/monthly.
• Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures.
• Support charting for doctors and monitor patient flow.
• Train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor flow within the practice.
• Follow OSHA and HIPAA requirements and Aspen safety guidelines.
• Take dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Provide post-treatment oral care instructions to patients.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies to maintain health.
• Complete denture relines and temporary crowns.
• Monitor and assist in management of laboratory cases.
• Perform quality intraoral health scans and impressions.
• Understand clear aligner processes and educate patients.
• Order and maintain supplies within the practice budget.
• Perform additional expanded functions as certified (e.g., polishing, restorations).
• Ensure emergency kits and oxygen tanks are maintained.
• Perform various office tasks as necessary.
