Job summary

Cogent Biosciences seeks a seasoned executive to lead precision medicine engagement as the VP of Precision Medicine Executives. You will build Cogent’s Precision Medicine Executive organization, hire and coach the inaugural PME team, and ensure alignment with commercial and medical objectives across the US healthcare system.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or healthcare equivalent degree required.
• Minimum 15 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, and/or medical experience with a strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical marketplace and broad understanding of industry trends.
• Minimum of 10 years combined experience leading specialty and/or rare-disease managers and/or representatives.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute department-level operating plans and budgets.
• Collaborative leader with success building, leading and motivating high-performance teams in direct-line and matrix settings.
• Strong negotiation, partnering, and influencing skills; ability to manage relationships with external partners.
• Prior experience working in large accounts and/or hospitals; ability to navigate complexities to advance objectives for patients and providers.
• Successful product launch experience required; cross-functional exposure across sales, marketing, market access and operations is preferred.
• Prior pharma/biotech startup experience preferred; comfort with ambiguity.
• Technologically savvy and data analytics driven to drive business results.
• Ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Develop operating plan and budget for Cogent’s Precision Medicine department.
• Hire, coach, and develop PME team prior to FDA approval.
• Collaborate with Cogent stakeholders to align strategies and execute objectives.
• Partner with external healthcare system stakeholders to ensure access post-approval.
• Foster a patient/customer-centric culture across teams.
• Differentiate PME units within target systems by delivering value.
• Support launch preparations and assist field teams in a dynamic market.
• Complete field coaching reports after travel sessions.
• Plan and conduct effective team meetings.
• Ensure budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
• Incorporate regulatory and legal compliance into daily activities.
