Job summary

Morrison Healthcare, a Compass Healthcare company, is seeking an Executive Chef in Abingdon, VA to oversee kitchen operations in a hospital setting, ensuring safety and sanitation.

You will plan menus, train staff, manage inventory, and maintain compliance with health regulations while delivering high-quality meals for patients and staff across the hospital’s café and catering events.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Culinary Arts or A.O.S. Degree or culinary certificate with required experience
• Minimum of three to five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience
• Extensive catering experience is a plus
• High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is highly desirable
• Hands-on chef experience is a must
• Knowledge of food and catering trends with emphasis on quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation
• ServSafe certification is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Plans regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
• Follows standard recipes, portioning and presentation standards; uses daily production worksheets and waste logs; tastes meals for quality
• Trains kitchen staff in food prep, safety, equipment operation, and sanitation
• Establishes cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and areas
• Maintains inventory to stay within guidelines and ensures product availability
• Manages leftovers within company guidelines
• Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations
• Adheres to safety policies and participates in meetings and staff development
