Job summary

The City of Santa Monica seeks a skilled supervisor to lead staff responsible for maintaining public venues. You will oversee facility maintenance programs, coordinate daily site operations, and manage venue readiness for public events and private rentals.

Responsibilities include planning work orders, coordinating vendor visits, optimizing scheduling, and ensuring excellent customer service while collaborating with other city departments and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree as listed in education requirements.
• 3 years of paid work experience planning and overseeing events including facilities maintenance.
• Two years leading and coordinating the work of others (or one year plus completion of Pre-Supervisory Academy).

Responsibilities

• Supervises, prioritizes, assigns and reviews work of staff maintaining City venues.
• Plans and coordinates facility maintenance (work orders, buildings, systems, signage) and equipment (furniture, tech).
• Coordinates cross-departmental meetings to maintain and plan operations of public facilities.
• Ensures efficient scheduling and on-site coordination with staff, vendors and clients.
• Supports operations staffing to provide welcoming environments and high customer service.
• Collaborates with other city departments and contractors for seamless program delivery.
• Acts as point of contact for onsite events including preparation, staffing, setup, operations and closeout.
• Selects, trains, schedules and supervises staff, consultants and volunteers.
• Resolves inquiries and assists guests and the public.
• Assists in budget preparation and monitoring; procures equipment and supplies.
