Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a Customer Services Specialist for the New Albany Branch. This part-time, non-exempt role supports front-line customer service, program preparation, and daily branch operations in the New Albany, OH location.

Starting pay ranges from $18.01 to $23.26 per hour, commensurate with experience. The role involves greeting customers, assisting with library card accounts, handling cash, and guiding patrons to appropriate staff and resources while upholding

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of Internet and database services.
• Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
• Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Processes and sorts materials accurately and efficiently; handling returned materials, reserved items, and new materials.
• Greeting customers and answering basic reference and directional questions in person, over the phone, by e-mail, or instant message.
• Assist customers with library card accounts, process applications, and enforce account rules.
• Manage money at the location, including balancing cash drawers and deposits.
• Resolve customer account disputes through interviewing, analysis, and negotiation.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and general location operations; maintain orderly spaces and supplies.
• Maintain library collection by identifying problems, cleaning materials, and processing withdrawn items.
• Provide training on library technology to customers and staff; troubleshoot tech problems.
