Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library’s New Albany Branch is hiring a Materials Services Associate to support operations by processing and distributing library materials, and by helping patrons.

The role involves sorting, shelving, assisting customers with self-service tech, and maintaining neat, inviting spaces. Schedule includes evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays for a part-time role. Starting pay ranges from $17.51 to $21.53 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age (work permit required for minors).
• Ability to pass alphabetic and numeric sorting and filing test.
• Ability to operate library technology including Windows/Microsoft Office.
• Reliable transportation to report to assignments.
• Able to communicate clearly in writing and speech.

Responsibilities

• Process and sort materials accurately; check in items.
• Sort and shelve library materials and maintain shelves.
• Meet accuracy and speed standards for shelving.
• Assist customers with directions and basic public technology.
• Maintain library collection and handle withdrawn/donated materials.
• Keep location neat and orderly; perform clerical duties.
• Participate in task forces or committees as assigned.
