Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a Customer Services Specialist to join the Gahanna Branch part-time team. You will be the first point of contact for customers, help with reference questions, guide patrons to resources, and ensure a welcoming, orderly service environment.

This role supports library programs and daily operations, including assisting with account basics, processing materials, and upholding the library's code of conduct.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to express self effectively in writing and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of Internet and database services.
• Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
• Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for customers and ensure a positive experience by determining needs and directing customers to staff/resources.
• Assist customers with library card accounts and payments, and provide basic reference assistance.
• Handle money at the location, balance cash drawers, and prepare deposits.
• Open/close location, manage supplies, and maintain a welcoming environment.
• Train customers and staff on library technology and support classroom or event setups.
• Coordinate volunteers and assist with various tasks as needed.
