Job summary

CMHA-CEI’s Families Forward Crisis Services is seeking staff to support children in acute mental health crisis and their families. The role involves crisis intervention, therapy assistance to therapists, and direct engagement with consumers in office, community, and home settings.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, at least one year of experience with children with severe emotional disturbance, strong de-escalation and communication skills, and a valid Michigan driver’s license

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or GED is required.
• A minimum of one year of experience working with children with severe emotional disturbance is required.
• Ability to problem solve crisis situations, de-escalate behavioral health crisis and provide crisis intervention with consumers both individually and in group meetings is required.
• Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form is required.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and supportive services to children experiencing acute mental health crisis and their families.
• Assist therapists and interact with consumers in a short-term crisis intervention program.
• Transport consumers when needed and maintain a secure environment.
• Data collection and reporting related to program activities.
• Services delivered in office, community, and the consumer’s home.
