Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking an administrative/customer service associate in Pontiac, MI. You will handle documentation for freight movements, answer inquiries by phone/email, and support daily service-center operations. The position starts at $20.20 per hour with a 4-hour evening shift (4 PM–9 PM). Office/dock environment; typical fast-paced operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years general office experience preferred.
• One year customer service experience preferred.
• Previous transportation experience preferred.
• Strong phone and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to comprehend FedEx service products to assist customers.
• Ability to use general office equipment (computer, fax, copier, scanner).
• Typing/data entry skills; Ten-key skills preferred.
• PC experience with learning required computer systems/programs.
• Demonstrated time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently or in a team; fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative/clerical functions such as filing, imaging, data entry, and answering phones.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Provide accurate information and assistance to customers, including pickup/delivery needs and upsell opportunities.
• Enter freight shipment information into systems, status updates, and billing details.
• Administer freight pickup processes as required.
• Assist customers by phone, email, or fax with inquiries, tracing shipments, quotes, and billing questions.
• Make freight delivery appointments as needed.
• Review drivers’ Hours-of-Service logs and report discrepancies.
• Assist city operations with driver check-ins and documentation, and coordinating drops or collections.
• Coordinate with sales, operations and other centers to meet customer needs and resolve issues.
• Reconcile cash and checks, prepare deposits and COD remittance as required.
