Job summary

PPG is seeking an Operational Support Engineer I to join our manufacturing team in Cleveland, OH. The role focuses on conducting process audits across operations, identifying gaps, and driving sustainable corrective actions to improve performance.

The candidate will perform root cause analysis, support lean initiatives, and help update SOPs and training materials while collaborating with production, quality, and engineering teams. This is an entry-level, full-time role with a Monday–Friday shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
• Entry-level; 0–2 years of relevant experience; Internship or co‑op experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail. Willingness to learn and drive change by identifying issues on a production floor.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular, structured process audits on the manufacturing floor to verify SOPs and work instructions are followed.
• Identify process gaps and systemic deficiencies through audit findings and data analysis.
• Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D) to determine root causes and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Monitor the effectiveness of implemented actions through follow-up audits and performance metrics.
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives on the plant floor.
• Contribute to the development and revision of SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.
