Job summary

PPG is seeking an Operational Support Engineer I to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will conduct process audits across manufacturing operations to ensure adherence to SOPs and standards, identify gaps, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions that improve operational excellence.

The role emphasizes structured problem solving (5-Why, Ishikawa, 8D), collaboration with production, quality and engineering teams, and support of lean initiatives on the plant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience; internship or co-op in manufacturing is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; willing to learn and drive change.

Responsibilities

• Conduct process audits on the manufacturing floor to verify SOPs and work instructions.
• Identify process gaps and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with production, quality and engineering to develop corrective actions.
• Monitor effectiveness through follow-up audits and metrics.
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in developing and revising SOPs and training materials.
