Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Lab Support Tech I for weekend coverage, working 16 hours per week in the Phlebotomy department. The role includes specimen collection, processing, and clerical duties, with emphasis on accurate test ordering and patient interaction.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and familiarity with hospital information systems. Phlebotomy training and ASCP eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy training.
• ASCP certification or eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Specimen collection and venipuncture across age groups following protocols.
• Specimen receiving, labeling, prioritizing and transporting per protocol.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and restock supplies at shift end.
• Register courier-delivered specimens and troubleshoot printers.
• Demonstrate mastery of hospital information systems and order tests as needed.
• Answer and transfer calls; ensure coverage for incoming calls.
