Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Lab Support Tech I to greet and assist patients, perform phlebotomy procedures, and support lab operations in the evening shift. Responsibilities include specimen collection, processing, and documentation using hospital information systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and preferred phlebotomy training with ASCP certification eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Phlebotomy training preferred.
• ASCP certification or eligibility preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood samples using venipuncture techniques across all age groups.
• Follows departmental protocols for sample collection.
• Restocks supplies and keeps the drawing station organized.
• Registers courier-delivered specimens accurately.
• Orders tests using hospital information systems and test dictionaries.
• Answers and transfers calls courteously and ensures coverage.
• Performs heel sticks and PKU collections.
• Adapts to workflow changes and provides feedback to supervisors.
• Maintains PPE and documents shift reports.
