Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to ensure a smooth patient flow from entry through discharge. You will register patients, collect financial data, and coordinate with care teams to minimize wait times.

The role requires strong customer service, basic data entry, and knowledge of medical terminology. Evening shifts 3:00PM-11:30PM with every-other weekend and holiday rotations are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience or equivalent education/training.
• Proficiency in data entry and accuracy.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and terminology used in clinical settings.
• Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Register, schedule and pre-register patients for inpatient, emergency and outpatient tests and procedures.
• Educate patients regarding benefits, review eligibility, prepare estimates and explain out-of-pocket costs.
• Collect payments, apply payments and ensure security of payments.
• Coordinate scheduling with physicians and departments and provide accurate information.
• Obtain demographic, insurance and financial information through interviews (face-to-face or by phone).
• Cross-train to staff all patient access areas as needed.
• Refer patients to financial counselors and explain ABN/AFR where appropriate.
