Job summary

Armor Health in Scranton, PA is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for full-time work at the Lakawanna County Jail. The role supports clinicians in a correctional setting, with a 3pm–11pm shift, alternating weekends and holidays.

You will perform holistic nursing care, assist with exams and treatments, collect histories, administer medications, and document findings. The team emphasizes accountability, detail, and timely care within policy.

Qualifications

• Current/Active state license as an LPN.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Proficient with electronic medical records.
• Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance to include a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
• Assist health care providers with examinations, treatments, special tests, and routine procedures.
• Obtain patient health history, laboratory specimens, vital signs and TB skin tests.
• Conduct lab tests and ensure results are delivered to the physician or nurse.
• Ensure patient is receiving proper care for injury or condition.
• Review patient charts and report observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes.
• Coordinate patient transfers, administer medications, and document contacts using POMR.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
• Assist health care providers, registered nurses, and allied health professionals with examinations, treatments, special tests, and routine procedures.
• Obtain patient health history, laboratory specimens, vital signs and administers TB skin tests.
• Conduct lab tests and ensures the results are delivered to the correct physician or registered nurse.
• Ensure patient is receiving proper care for injury or condition.
• Review patient chart; records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient's conditions.
• Coordinate patient transfers to medical facilities or outside health care providers; administer medications; implement healthcare practitioners' orders; and document all patient contacts using the POMR format.
