Job summary

Armor Health in Columbus, OH, seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Day 3x12s shift (7am–7pm) at Franklin County Jail. This full-time role includes every-other-weekend work and offers the chance to provide holistic nursing care in a correctional setting.

You will support providers, perform exams and procedures, collect histories, draw labs, and document care in the EMR. Must hold an active LPN license, CPR, and pass a Level 2 background check; EMR proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• Current/Active state license as an LPN.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Proficient with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance including background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
• Assist health care providers, RNs, and allied health professionals with examinations, treatments, tests, and routine procedures.
• Obtain patient health history, collect laboratory specimens, measure vital signs, and administer TB tests.
• Conduct lab tests and ensure results reach the physician or RN promptly.
• Ensure patients receive proper care for injuries or conditions.
• Review patient charts and report observed symptoms, reactions, or changes in condition.
• Coordinate patient transfers to medical facilities or external providers; administer medications; document contacts in the EHR using standard formats.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care to patients in a correctional setting.
• Assist health care providers, registered nurses, and allied health professionals with examinations, treatments, special tests, and routine procedures.
• Obtain patient health history, laboratory specimens, vital signs and administers TB skin tests.
• Conduct lab tests and ensures the results are delivered to the correct physician or registered nurse.
• Ensure patient is receiving proper care for injury or condition.
• Review patient chart; records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient's conditions.
• Coordinate patient transfers to medical facilities or outside health care providers; administer medications; implement healthcare practitioners' orders; and document all patient contacts using the POMR format.
