Job summary

UW Medicine in Renton, WA seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 for the Specimen Processing Services Team. You will prepare specimens, operate lab equipment, and support testing workflows that impact patient care.

The role includes evening shifts, 100% FTE, with a fixed-term appointment. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant lab experience or ASCP-approved training.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent with one year of chemical, clinical, or public health lab experience, or completion of an approved laboratory assistant course.
• Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications where allowed by law.

Responsibilities

• Sort and prioritize specimens and requests.
• Match specimens with requisitions for correct tube type.
• Prepare reagents and media per procedures.
• Operate lab equipment (balances, microscopes, spectrophotometers, pH meters, autoclaves, centrifuges).
• Centrifuge and aliquot specimens as ordered.
• Maintain accurate records and assist training of new staff.
